Quote:

Q. (Dan Knutson - National Speed Sport News) Ron, while Juan is on his leave of absence, is he permitted to race in Nascar?

RD: No. He is a contracted McLaren driver and it will stay that way until the end of his contract unless there is some other commercial arrangement between ourselves and the Nascar team or Juan himself.

Q. (Salvatore Zanca - Associated Press) Ron, do you envisage Juan coming back to Formula One?

RD: More than possible.

Q. With what team.

RD: With our team.

Q. Are we talking about this year?

RD: It is possible.

Q. (Andrea Cremonesi - La Gazzetta dello Sport) Don't you allow him to do any tests?

RD: No. There is a conflict of sponsors, advertising campaigns and a whole raft or reasons why that is not a practical proposition.

Quote:

Dodge Director of SRT and Motorsports Marketing Mike Accavitti said today that the manufacturer is still trying to free up Juan Pablo Montoya from his contract with the McLaren-Mercedes Formula One team so Montoya can begin driving stock cars. The F1 season ends October 22, and even though McLaren replaced Montoya soon after he announced he would join Chip Ganassi Racing in 2007, Montoya, who will replace Casey Mears in the #42 car, is still prohibited to drive stock cars.(SceneDaily.com)

Quote:

McLaren boss Ron Dennis says Juan Pablo Montoya can be freed of his contractual obligations to the Woking team – provided he is willing to forego the remainder of his salary. The Colombian abruptly split with McLaren last month, two days after sensationally announcing that he would be leaving Formula 1 for the American NASCAR series in 2007. Since then his future employers, #42-Chip Ganassi Racing and manufacturer Dodge, have made little secret of their desire for Montoya to begin his stock car apprenticeship as soon as possible.(itv.com/f1)

Toch opgelost:

Montoya ready to test Cup cars? A deal has been struck that will allow Juan Pablo Montoya to begin testing with Chip Ganassi and Felix Sabates' NASCAR operation, possibly as soon as next week, Yahoo! Sports has learned. Montoya has been unable to practice in a stock car due to a contractual issue with his soon-to-be former employer McLaren-Mercedes F1. An agreement releasing Montoya from his contractual obligations to his F1 team is necessary before he can begin testing with Ganassi. That agreement has been reached, according to a source within the Ganassi organization. Details of the agreement have not been disclosed, though an announcement is expected soon. Ganassi/Sabates officials want the former F1 and Indy 500 winner behind the wheel of one of their cars as soon as possible in order to prepare for his entrance into Nextel Cup next season. Tentative plans have Montoya running at least four races and as many as nine before the end of the season, including the Busch Series races at Texas, Phoenix and Homestead-Miami and the Cup finale at Homestead – all markets with large Latino populations. Montoya also might run the ARCA race at Talladega in October, which would give the Colombian experience on a restrictor plate superspeedway.(Yahoo Sports)

Juan Pablo Montoya will make his stock car racing debut in just over a week's time at Talladega Superspeedway, his team Chip Ganassi Racing announced today.

Montoya will drive the No. 4 Texaco/Havoline Dodge in the ARCA RE/MAX Series on Friday, October 6, in the Food World 250.

Heb even een radio link geluisterd.
