Race of champions

Het heeft nog weinig te maken met de originele ROC.
De teams:
USA: Colin Edwards - Jeff Gordon - Jimmie Johnson

UK: James Haydon - Dario Franchitti - Robbie Head

Frankrijk: Mickael Maschio - Sebastien Bourdais - Sebastien Loeb

Als landenteam niet nee. Maar Duval doet mee aan de "ROC Junior Rally Masters" én de winnaar daarvan mag meedoen aan de eigenlijke "Race of Champions".

Vorig jaar was Duval trouwens de winnaar van die Junior klasse.(o.a. voor Loeb.) De Rallycross Saab (met 3 versnellingen) heeft hem in de halve finale (tegen Schwarz geloof ik) de "das" omgedaan. De organisatoren opgelucht natuurlijk... (Duez zat de vorige jaren trouwens mee in de organisatie) ,want als een rookie somaar de ROC bij een eerste deelname wint, wordt er wel een beetje afbreuk gedaan aan het evenement.

Hopelijk presteert Duval dit jaar even goed! Zo'n evenement is hem natuurlijk wel op het lijf geschreven: elke wagen (en ondergrond) waarmee hij ooit in een rally startte, had hij enorm snel onder de knie. (vgl Citroën Saxo Challenge, Toyota Celica, Mitsubishi Lancer Gr. N, Focus WRC) énkel de prestaties met de Puma vielen een beetje tegen...

Kunnen we nog een Belgisch team inschrijven ???

Moto : Stefan Everts, Joël Smets, Marniq Bervoets, Patrick Caps, Steve Ramon

Circuit : Alle piloten uit de Belcar (LoL)

Rally : genoeg keuze als je 't mij vraagt.

Ja, zeker dienen 2de piloot van dienen Clio in de Jacky Icx. Met zoveel meters in de benen kan hij altijd helpen met de putjes op te vullen in het circuit. :)

Moet ik daar geen hamburgertentje openhouden, dan was ik er toch ook.

't is eigenlijk bijna zo vanzelfsprekend dat ik het niet hoef te posten...

Maar duval heeft de ROC bij de juniors gewonnen.

In de 1ste ronde zet hij gewoonweg de 3 snelste tijden neer én bijgevolg wint hij ook z'n 3 manches én aan de tijden te zien heeft hij in de finale ook niet zoveel problemen gehad.

Als ik het deelnemersveld zo bekijk kunnen ze de grote namen ook niet meer aantrekken...

Prachtig resultaat ... als favoriet starten en die rol waarmaken is gewoonweg prachtig

"This time we came just to have some fun -- and we won."

In the final, Edwards defeated 250cc Moto GP champion Marco Melandri to give Team USA a 1-0 lead. Gordon extended the lead to 2-0 after nipping European touring car champion Fabrizio Giovanardi by 0.15 seconds.

Johnson, the team's dirt "specialist," then fell to World Rally driver Renato Travaglia by 0.65 seconds.

Edwards then clinched the championship with his second victory over Melandri.

In the semifinals, Team USA defeated France with Gordon rising to the occasion and defeating Formula 3000 champion Sebastian Bourdais in the final race, giving the Americans a 3-2 victory. Edwards once again led the way with two victories while Johnson lost his only race.

"Jimmie probably has the worst record among us and, yet, he was probably the best driver on our team," Gordon said. "He had a tough draw facing guys who race these types of cars in these types of conditions every weekend. But he was putting up some great lap times and giving those rally drivers all they could handle.

"I'm glad we participated in this event. It was a lot of fun and it was cool racing for our country. I'm just glad we didn't make fools of ourselves.

omdat er geen Belgisch team was vind ik wel leuk dat ze gewonnen hebben. Dat er nu nog maar iemand zegt da NASCAR maar dom rondjes rijden is. Die mannen hebben dus wel degelijk talent :)

En Gronholm heeft zijne peugeot vernield :) ,Gordon was juist mee aan boord,en die vond dat blijkbaar fantastisch :D
