Het is geweten dat Ekstrom ook bijzonder snel is naast het circuit. Hij heeft dit jaar rally van Zweden gewonnen in Groep N. Publicitair zou het wel zeer sterk zijn om de dan DTM kampioen de laatste 2 rallies te laten rijden
