The helmet used by world champion Michael Schumacher in this year's US Grand Prix raised £38,000 in an auction for the children of the US terrorist attack victims last weekend.

Schumacher's helmet proved the most popular prize, drawing 60 bids. The helmet worn by his brother Ralf, raised the second-highest amount at just over £17,000. Mika Hakkinen's race suit made nearly £14,000.
