Wilson probeert een gereduceerd (Europees) programma uit de wacht te slepen om een nieuwe wagen te kunnen ontwikkelen.

Ford survival in the balance

Ford rally team boss Malcolm Wilson is prepared to sacrifice a full World Championship campaign next year if doing so will allow his M-Sport team to develop a World Rally Car based on the new Focus.
Missing non-European rallies could ease the financial strain, but it would mean that Ford could not register for the World Championship and would make it near-impossible to attract leading drivers. The new WR Car is essential if Ford is to remain in the sport in the long term, as the current version will be replaced in Europe next year.
“My main priority is developing the new car with a long-term future. We might end up not doing the whole championship next year,” Wilson said.
No agreement on the rally programme’s future was reached at a meeting with Ford Europe’s senior management late last week, but attempts to piece together a programme continue.
