Suzuki zal enkel deelnemen aan WRC als hervormingen komen: het moet goedkoper en de wagens moeten minder geavanceerd zijn.

Suzuki chief calls for reform

Suzuki is unlikely to launch a full-scale World Rally Championship assault with a four-wheel-drive car unless costs and technical sophistication are reduced.

Suzuki Sport Director Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima said that World Rally Cars have become so advanced and so expensive that the current formula has become a deterrent to manufacturers thinking of getting involved. He expressed concern that a winning rally team needed too many engineers and too many “specialists” for a new manufacturer to hope to succeed. He welcomed the idea of banning semi-automatic gearchanges and restricting active differentials.

“If we continue, we are newcomer, so we need some simpler regulation. What do simpler regulations mean? It means a newcomer can win. Otherwise, for example all the others have lot of experience and they have many data and we don’t - newcomer is of course no experience. If you cannot get win, nobody can participate,” he told worldrallynews.com.
