Ford Racing Technology director Dan Davis was on hand at Virginia International Raceway last weekend, insisting that the company would take a greater involvement in the series.
Davis was present to oversee the re-emergence of the Multimatic-Ford Daytona Prototype programme that has lain all but dormant - even though a handful participated in the Rolex Series from late-2003 through early 2004 - since the car's class win in the 2003 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The apparent determination to ramp up its involvement in Grand-Am comes as something of a surprise as Ford recently axed its Formula One programmes with Jaguar Racing and Cosworth, and has still to make up its mind over the future of its World Rally Championship campaign.
