Quote:
"We have improved considerably since the Race-Touareg made its debut in January 2004. During the forthcoming months we will leave no stone unturned in our quest to bridge the gap to the leaders." explains Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. "The participation in the Cross Country Rally World Cup is one of the major components, the development programme and tests another." An independent test team within the existing motorsport team structure will be built up. The first of the five test currently planned will be held at the end of February in Morocco.

In the Cross Country Rally World Cup, comprising of six rounds, four starts are planned initially. "At the opening round in Argentina we will start with two Race-Touareg prototypes for Jutta and Bruno. We also plan to compete with other drivers during the season. We also haven't decided the four rallies in which we will compete." states Kris Nissen. "We want to judge ourselves in competition, and in doing so prepare the Race-Touareg, drivers and co-drivers and the entire team purposefully and meticulously for the next Dakar Rally."
