Jan Heylen announces a very busy 2005
Even if little was known about the plans of Jan Heylen till now, the Belgian single-seater hope had a very busy winter. Busy is also an appropriate word for his 2005-racing program. Jan will be active in European Mégane Trophy, Formula 3 and a GT championship.
“I’m proud to announce that I will compete the brand new European Mégane Throphy for an all-Belgian team: Racing for Belgium. The team founded by manager-driver Wim Coeckelberghs gained lots of experience in the Belgian Clio Cup and I’m sure that the team will do a good job,” opens Jan Heylen.
“The Mégane Throphy is different from Formula Racing but still is a very good experience as it is a competition on a very high and competitive level. This Cup is technically very close to DTM and offers a good chance to continue on international level.
“My choice for the Mégane Throphy does not mean the end of my single-seater career,” underlines Jan Heylen.
“This winter, I was picked by Mygale and Team Holzer to be their test driver for 2005, to develop Mygale’s new F3 car. The French F3-constructer, situated near Magny-Cours will compete in the 2005 F3 Euro-Series. They collaborate with Holzer, a German company in charge of the DTM-Opel Vectra,“ explains Jan. He will also be seen in GT-racing. “GT-racing is no longer a gentleman-drivers monopoly. Young, fast drivers are keen to compete long distance racing. Myself, I had my first experience last year during the Zolder 10 hours. Shortly, we will announce more about our GT-plans. But without doubt, there will be an endurance classic on my program,“ concludes Jan Heylen.

Hopelijk gaat hij terug mooie resultaten neerzetten in 2005, na z'n (te)grote stap en slechte resultaten in de F3000...
