We could talk for days about the phenomenon of American isolationism and nationalism. It’s an issue that goes far deeper than sporting events, but it’s clearly evident in sports (soccer, anyone?). Americans, by and large, reject anything beyond their borders -- and beyond the realm of what‘s familiar and basic -- no matter how good it might be.

The USGP is virtually unknown to most Americans, and that’s not necessarily the Speedway’s fault. Unless one actively seeks it out, Formula 1 is not readily available in the States. That has nothing to do with IMS. That has to do with a sanctioning body that treats the paying customer as a necessary nuisance. American race fans don’t take well to that attitude, especially when it comes from elsewhere.

Toch benieuwd welk gevolgen deze GP nog gaat opleveren. Er zal vast wel een of andere advocaat op de tribune hebben gezeten die de hele tent gaat aanklagen wegens oplichting of iets dergelijks
