Well, for once, it might not be Mark Arnall, Mika's (and now Kimi's) trainer and sports therapist often referred to as "the bald one". It could be no other than Erja's husband himself.

Perhaps it is a measure of Mika's fame that he should be making the headlines this week purely because of a change of hairstyle.

With the hungry hacks of worldwide media missing Mika's talent on the racetrack, they have been hunting for a newsworthy Mika story since the end of the season. Disappointed that there has been no news of another baby, a return to racing or even a photo opportunity with Kimi in a Finnish sauna, the hack-pack has now taken to hanging around barbershops.

According to two Finnish newspapers, Mika has changed his appearance in order to disguise himself from the public glare. Iltalehti (www.iltalehti.fi) shows a supposedly computer generated image of Mika with no hair, while another daily believes Mika now sports a black crop and matching black beard.

Who can blame him? However, whether a new haircut is going to fool those who are used to seeing him in baseball caps or crash helmets, remains to be seen. Of course, Mika may simply have decided to change his hairstyle - all those sleepless nights with little Hugo may have contributed to the odd grey hair or a receding hairline.

It is well known that Mika cannot walk through the streets of Helsinki freely without being stopped by every other person wishing him well or asking for an autograph. The Häkkinens would surely like to make the most of the opportunity to spend more time in Finland, and a disguise of some sort could help them to go about their business with a little more anonymity. Would this mean then, that Erja is now sporting a blonde crop, or auburn curls?!

So while this season's drivers are putting the new cars through their paces, Mika is stealing the headlines with a new haircut.
