Nr9 Zakspeed Saleen S7R was leading the race with a lead of more than 50 seconds. But behind the leader, with now Jarek Janis back at the wheel, a really close fight for third place in GT1 was taking place. Gollin, Bertolini and Hezemans were in the fight for third, and between them, Bouchut and Biagi, who were one lap down, were fighting for seventh position. On lap 82, Hezemans spun out into the gravel when being overtaken by the nr2 Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati, one lap back. The Corvette then had to retire, due to exhaust damage. A few laps later, Biagi overtook Bouchut, once again with contact between both cars.

After the race, the nr 2 Vitaphone car received a 30 second penalty for its collision with the Corvette, and a ten grid-position penalty for its collision with the Lamborghini. This last penalty has been appealed, and the results are therefore pending.
