Michael Waltrip's Toyota Camry has been impounded by NASCAR officials after technical inspections on Sunday.
Series officials found "a substance" in the engine manifold, which the team claimed was oil.
NASCAR's vice president for corporate communications Jim Hunter said: "Our inspection team was not comfortable that that was oil.
"That car is impounded and we don't know how long we'll keep it."
