CART Milwaukee : Tracy !
Paul Tracy won today's Miller Lite 250 on The Milwaukee
Mile at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The race was
Round 4 of the 2002 CART FedEx Championship Series.
The driver of the KOOL Honda/Lola crossed the finish
line 0.747 of a second over polesitter Adrian Fernandez
in the Tecate/Quaker State/Telmex Honda/Lola. Max Papis
finished third in the ROCKWELL FIRST POINT
Ford-Cosworth/Lola. The victory was Tracy's third on The
Milwaukee Mile and his first CART win since Vancouver in 2000.
Tracy took the lead at the start and stayed there for most of the race, surrendering it only during pit
stops.
Christian Fittipaldi was fourth in the Lilly Toyota/Lola while Michel Jourdain Jr. came home fifth in the
Gigante Ford/Cosworth/Lola to take over the points lead. Jourdain scored his fourth straight
top-five finish and now leads Dario Franchitti by a 42-35 margin.
Franchitti scored only one point for finishing 12th after crashing out of the race in the KOOL
Honda/Lola. By virtue of his victory and bonus point for most laps led, Tracy and Papis are now tied
for third in the standings with 32 points apiece.
Rounding out the top 10 were Scott Dixon in the Target Toyota/Lola, Michael Andretti in the
Motorola Honda/Lola, Kenny Brack in the Target Toyota/Lola, Jimmy Vasser in the Shell
Ford-Cosworth/Lola and Bruno Junqueira in the Target Toyota/Lola.
