crash van greg moore
-------------
he horrendous image of Greg Moore's Forsythe rolling through the air will stay with Cart fans for many years. But underneath the sadness of 31st November 1999 lies a truly amazing tale....
After several years with the Players racing organisation, Greg Moore had announced that he would be moving to the Penske team for 2000. As Greg headed to Fontana, his last race before switching teams, he made it known that he wanted to win his last race for the team that had developed him through American racing.
But hard times were just ahead. Hours before the qualifying session, Moore was hit whilst riding his scooter through the paddock. Suffering a broken finger the question arose as to whether or not Greg would be fit enough to race the next day. Later during the day Greg was allowed to complete a few laps of the Fontana track, which lead to a decision that he was fit enough to drive.
As the green flag waved for the first of 500 miles, Greg sat in a lonely twenty seventh position. Unable to qualify the previous day, he was forced to start at the back of the field.
After just one lap of racing Greg had overtaken seven cars and sat in twentieth position. As the field crossed the line to begin lap three, he had moved into seventeenth.
A few laps later brought the first caution of the day as Richie Hearn slammed into the turn two wall. Sitting in fifteenth place, Greg's fight was already well under way.
As the race resumed on lap ten, Moore crossed the finish line fourteenth, after overtaking nearly half of the field in just over four laps at racing speed.
But the blue and white forsythe headed out of turn two for the last time....

Moore een snel vergeten geval in europa maar als je het live op eurosport zal gebeuren vergeet je dat toch niet voor mij meer beklijvend als pakweg de Mercedes flip ...
