Former Le Mans 24 hour winner Allan McNish (who won in 1998) will return to the sports car arena with the Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx effort this season.
The 34-year-old, who is now out of the picture for the final Formula One seat at Jordan, will race one of the team’s R8 prototypes at Le Mans and Sebring, and in the four-race Le Mans Endurance Series.
McNish’s last sports car drive was in a Ferrari 333SP at the 2001 Daytona 24 hour. Johnny Herbert, a regular with the Champion Audi team in the ALMS in 2001-03, has also been signed by the team to contest Le Mans and Sebring. McLaren F1 test driver Darren Turner has reached terms with the team to race in the Le Mans Endurance Series.
