Rovanpera gets Peugeot gig

Pace in Mexico and New Zealand secures second Peugeot 307 seat on gravel for Finn

Rovanpera will be in a 307 on all remaining 2004 gravel rounds

Harri Rovanpera will drive the second factory Peugeot 307 WRC on all the remaining gravel rounds of the 2004 World Rally Championship, after impressing team boss Corrado Provera on the two events he has contested in the car as substitute for the under-performing Freddy Loix.

"Harri has done exactly the job that we asked of him," said Provera at the end of Rally New Zealand. "I'm absolutely delighted to say that he will be staying with us for all the gravel rounds of this year's championship."

Rovanpera, who led Rally New Zealand briefly before finsihing fifth, commented: "Im really looking forward to the future now."

Loix's future with the team is uncertain. He has a contract to contest more rallies with Peugeot, but it could be that he will now be placed in a 206 for selected events over the balance of the season. He may also drive the 307 on asphalt rounds, though others are also in the frame, including French rising star Cedric Robert.
