Marc Duez replaces Christian Hohenadel 18.07.02

Belgian Marc Duez will be replacing the injured Christian Hohenadel at the Team Grohs Motorsport. In a private football game, Hohenadel tore three ligaments in his right ankle.

The driver from Quierschied will be watching Marc Duez?s V8STAR debut with his Grohs V8STAR at the Nürburgring live on crutches. Duez is a perfect all-round racing driver. His new team boss Harald Grohs about the 45-year old: ?I hardly know a driver who has been so successful in so many motorsport categories. Marc is blindlingly quick on anything that has four wheels.? During his successful career, the Belgian has been competing in single seaters, sportscars, rally and ice races. Of course, the Nürburgring is familiar to Duez, too. He has won the 24 hour race in the Eifel four times. Most recently so in 1999 with a V8STAR team, notably with Peter Zakowski and the Zakspeed-team.

?I am really happy?, says Duez. ?I have been watching the V8STAR for a long time and I would like to race here next year. It is a great series. When this excellent opportunity came about, I agreed immediately. I couldn?t hope for anything better. I will try to understand the car and the strategy for such a race as quickly as possible. With Harald Grohs, I have a truly experienced team boss, with whom I already shared a car once during the 1990 Le Mans 24 hours. We know each other well.? Before that, the two already raced against each other in Japan. ?Competition in the V8STAR 2002 is very hard, I have already seen that in the first races. I will not set the world alight, but let?s wait and see what can be done...?
