North Carolina Hit Hard With Winter Storm
Photos of Winter in Race City USA

MOORESVILLE, N.C., (December 5, 2002) --- North Carolina has hit hard with a Icy Winter storm Wednesday night. This is the time of year that race teams are busy preparing their cars for the 2003 season. This storm brought the work to a halt at many race shops Thursday as power was out to over 1 million people across the state. I traveled through Race City USA and took some photos of the icy weather from a Nascar Fans point of view. The weather should improve this weekend and the work will no doubt go on as the teams prepare for pre-season testing at Daytona.

The snow and ice coat the sign and building of the Braun Racing headquarters. Home to Steadman Marlin and Chad Blount, drivers
who will compete in the Busch Series in 2003

Ganassi/Sabates Racing flags stood frozen as everything was coated
with ice. The team did announce Casey Mears as their driver in the #41 Target Dodge today.

The Roush Racing souvenier trucks of Greg Biffle
and Kurt Busch were idle and covered with ice.

The trees outside the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame were stressed
and many cracked under all the weight of the ice.

The Nesquick transporter wasn't going anywhere today.
