Gisteren een race van de Japanse GT's op Fontana in de States, ze waren maar 5 sec. sneller dan DP's van het Grand-Am. Dat valt me hartstikke mee................
Overigens een startveld van meer dan 30 DP's voor de 24 uur van Daytona behoord tot de mogelijkheden. De dollars van de Familie France zullen allicht een handje helpen  Na een neerwaarste spiraal gaat het dit jaar weer een stuk beter met de 24 uur. De categorie GT in het Grand-AM begint ook aardig aan te zwellen. Tussen de 50 en 60 als totaal deelnemers aantal is reeël te noemen op dit moment.

De kwaliteit van de piloten blijft maar stijgen en stijgen. Op autosport.nl lezen we dat Patrick Huisman waarschijnlijk van start gaat in de 24 uur van Daytona voor het team van Synergy Racing. Aanvalswapen? Een Doran-BMW, Huisman zal eerst aan een test deelnemen.
Dat Porsche bezig is om een van de Fabcars van Brumos te onderzoeken en daar waar mogelijk verbeteringen aan te brengen is reeds bekend. Dat het serieus is bij Porsche blijkt uit het feit dat "fabrieks koppel" Sascha Maassen en Lucas Luhr (N-GT kampioenen 2004) van start gaan in een van de Brumos Fabcar Porsches. De fabriekscoureurs Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas hebben ook een vliegticket op zak voor Daytona. Leuk stuk je op theracesite.com

Yeps, de volgende toch wel bekende naam die een test heeft gedaan met een DP wagen is Marc Goossens. Voor het Orbitt Racing legde hij een test af in de Riley-Pontiac met het oog op een eventuele deelname aan de 24 uur van Daytona.

Het gaat een echte race of champions worden op 5/6 februari in Daytona. Volgens een artikel op www.autosport.nl staat een heel peleton topcoureurs in de startblokken.
NASCAR: Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Tony Stewart, Jimmy Johnson, Jamie McMurray, Bobby en Terry Labonte Champcar: Tracy, Bourdais, Da Matta, Teameigenaar Paul Newman (ver over de 70!), Scott Dixon, Darren Manning IRL: Dan Wheldon en Dario Franchitti Echter het grote nieuws: het debuut van de C6R, althans het is de verwachting dat hij gaat deelnemen aan de 24 uur. Mocht dat zo zijn dan kunnen we eens kijken wat het verschil is tussen een DP-wagen een "GT1". Meer zal duidelijk worden tijdens de 3-daagse test van 7 tot 9 januari op Daytona.

De eerste Belgische deelnemer is bekend, Marc Sluszny zal van start gaan op de Porsche met nummer 63. Deze wagen zal ingezet worden door "The Racer's Group", bij één wagen zal het niet blijven. Dit team zal in totaal zes! Porsche GT3 cups inzetten.
Teammaten van Sluszny zijn: Derek Clark, Pat Flanagan en Dave Master. Voor mij onbekende namen. De overige informatie van de 5 wagens van de "The Racer's Group" is hier te vinden.

De lijst met startnummers voor het seizoen Grand Am 2005 is hier te vinden . We tellen nu al 74 wagens over de verschillende categoriën. Dat wil dus niet zeggen dat dia allemaal van start gaan in de 24 uur........maar wel een zeer groot aantal.
Op de lijst staan 33 DP wagens vermeld..........er zouden dus weleens 25-30 van dergelijke wagens van start kunnen gaan in de 24 uur. Amerikanen zijn gek van cijfers en statistieken, je kunt zelfs de demografische gegevens van Fans en Deelnemers terugvinden. Klik hier voor de Deelnemers. opmerkelijk: Gemiddelde leeftijd coureur: 45.2 jaar ..... lijken wel youngtimers  Klik hier voor de Fans opmerkelijk: De gemiddelde leeftijd van de fans is nog ouder namelijk: 46.8 jaar
