Arrows look set to miss the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix after their team transporters were instructed to return to their UK base whilst en-route to the Hungaroring, Crash.Net can exclusively reveal.

Crash.Net can exclusively reveal that the Arrows Formula One trucks have been instructed to turn back to their English base half way through their trans-European convoy to Budapest. They reached Germany, near to the Nurburgring on Monday afternoon but were told to turn back and are now en-route via Luxembourg back to the UK.

It appears that the team's financial matters are far worse than initially thought. Arrows staff have not been paid for July and allegedly the potential take over deal which would have secured the team's future is also in jeopardy due to ongoing problems and unforeseen complications in the 'due diligence' appraisal of the team's assets and liabilities.

By not showing up in Hungary the team will at least save themselves the payment of a further $1.6 Million to Cosworth for the use of their engines, but on the other hand will incur the wrath of the FIA/FOA and therefore be liable to the harsh financial penalty which is levied to any team who miss a Grand Prix.

It seems they are indeed in a Catch 22 situation, Tom Walkinshaw addressed the employee's at the Leafield factory this afternoon and stated that to compete in Hungary would jeopardise their chances of successfully completing the sale of the team to the yet unknown investors, still believed to be either a consortium led by former BAR team principal Craig Pollock or to the Red Bull energy drinks company.

Bij de de start van dit seizoen leek het nog alsof de grid voor de eerste maal sinds lang vol zou staan (= 24 wagens), nu zijn het er nog maar 10.
We komen dus steeds dichter bij een kampioenschap met drie wagens per team.

De regel is immers dat als er minder dan 10 teams aan de start verschijnen dat er dan drie wagens worden ingezet om het minimale aantal te behalen.

Dat valt toch nooit voor 27 auto's. Praktisch iedere keer zal er wel iemand niet gekwalificeerd geraken voor de grote prijs. Zeker als young dan ook (nog) meerijd.

De maximale grid staat in de huidige Formule 1 (met de Concorde overeenkomsten tot in 2008) op 24 wagens.
Toyota 'kocht' daarom het laatste plaatsje op de grid voor 2002. Men voorzag echter niet het wegvallen van Prost en heeft dus opnieuw een grid van 22.
Er is dus plaats voor bijvoorbeeld Audi/Volkswagen in de Formule 1.

Een race kan worden afgelast als minder dan 12 wagens aan de start verschijnen (max 12 teams = 24 wagens : 2 -> 12 wagens -> de helft van het maximaal toegestane).
Als dus slechts 6 teams overblijven of er slechts 11 wagens aan de start verschijnen, dan gaat een race niet door.
Er steken steeds meer geruchten de kop op dat dan met 3 wagens zou worden gereden. Dit zou voor Ferrari, BMW en McLaren niet echt een probleem zijn, maar zou Minardi of Jordan toch wel de das omdoen.
