Lol, eenvoudige conclusie: oudste GP wordt geschrapt omdat ze met te weinig geld over de brug komen. Bernie is echt wel een geldwolf. Als je zag wel gigantisch bedrag de Chinesen elk jaar ophoesten om hun GP te houden ...

The British Grand Prix could wind up at Donington Park next season if Silverstone landlord, the British Racing Drivers' Club, does not manage to do a deal with the consortium hoping to rescue the event.

Brand Synergy MD Kim Cockburn has said that what matters to the group is the preservation of the event, not necessarily where it is held, and, while Silverstone remains the first choice of venue, Donington could easily be substituted for the Northamptonshire circuit.

"We have an agreement to sign the contract for the British Grand Prix for seven years, and will be signing as soon as Bernie [Ecclestone] and I can get together," Cockburn insisted in Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, despite neither Ecclestone nor BRDC CEO Alex Hooton confirming that a deal is in place, "Wherever the race is, we will have to build a new pit and paddock complex, so it does not matter whether it is at Donington or Silverstone."

Ecclestone's approach was confirmed by the BRDC, which confirmed that the F1 tsar had offered to promote the race - which would then be guaranteed a place on the calendar - if they allowed him to use the Silverstone circuit rent-free for the next seven years, the length of any likely race contract.

De FIA heeft vandaag de voorlopige kalender voor 2005 bekendgemaakt. Het zijn 19 GP's (de 18 van dit jaar, en dan Turkije er nog bij). Wel staan (naar gewoonte) de GP's van Silverstone, Imola en Magny-Cours nog onder voorbehoudt.

De GP in Spa is wel een weekje opgeschoven aangezien ze Turkije eind augustus gepland hebben.
