De van Merksteijn Spyder staat inmiddels te koop (advertentie Autosport 23.10), inclusief complete pitinrichting. Weinig kans dat Equipe Verschuur verder gaat met dit project.

Is denk ik ook een indicatie dat Verschuur geen budget heeft kunnen vinden. De huidige financiele crisis werkt daar natuurlijk ook niet in het voordeel. Indien men de Porsche niet kan verkopen een eenmalig optreden tijdens Le Mans? Ze hebben immers een startbewijs. Of heeft Van Merktsteijn dan WRC verplichtingen?

Van Merksteijn heeft er altijd een punt van gemaakt dat zijn doel de titel in LMP2 te behalen was. Met dat doel in zicht was hij maanden geleden al begonnen met te onderhandel met Audi op de hoop en privé-R10 te kunnen bemachtigen. Die heeft hij dus niet gekregen, maar hij had zowiezo al geen zin om in 2009 alles nog eens over te doen, met dezelfde wagen, dezelfde klasse, etc.
Dus ja, voor volgend jaar ligt de focus in de rally.

Wat het verhaal is achter Team Verschuur weet ik niet. Waarom nemen zij dan niet gewoon de wagen over, bijv.?

Wat denk je van geld? Een seizoen LMS en Le Mans kost meer dan een paar Euro.

Ik hoop dat er nog iets aan de wagen veranderd (een dak?), want anders is het niet echt "exciting".
