The No.7 Audi Sport Team Joest R10 headed out of the pits soon after the warm-up began – but early in the lap the team spotted unusual readings on the telemetry, and told Allan McNish to slow down and come straight back to the pits.

When he returned the team quickly changed the left drive-shaft, and he went out again – but again he slowed dramatically on the Mulsanne straight and limped back, this time with smoke sometimes visible coming from the car. The team will have a lot of work to prepare the car for the 5pm race start

De R10 gaat trager moeten tanken

Diesel fuel is more energy-rich than regular gasoline, allowing the R10 to last longer between pitstops than petrol-powered cars.

Now, the International Motorsports Association, which runs the ALMS, plans to shrink the size of the fuel nozzle from 38mm to 33mm. This is being mandated as an interim step before the fuel tanks are restricted in accordance with the ACO's wishes.

This means that the pitstops for the Audi R10, competing in the ALMS for the second time this season in Utah this weekend, will take longer than their petrol equivalents.

In theorie misschien: ze staan 19 punten achter (11 t.o.v. 30) terwijl er nog maar 20 te verdienen zijn.

Toch raar op het eerste oog. Ze lijken me namelijk het team met de meeste sponsoren. Al wil veel sponsoren natuurlijk niet veel zeggen. Je kunt namelijk 1 vierkante meter op de wagen voor 1000 Euro verkopen maar ook voor 100.000 Euro.

Zou jammer zijn als Pescarolo af moet haken.

Audi dreigt zich terug te trekken uit ALMS

From next weekend's Road America round, the LM P1 Lolas entered by the Dyson team will race with 65 kilograms less than the R10. From the following race at Mosport, they will be allowed a five-litre larger fuel tank.

Audi admit that their future participation in the American Le Mans Series is under discussion as a result, claiming that organisers are attempting to stop the car's winning streak by making the competition even more new concessions.

pff tis ook weer iets voor alms.. net et zelfde in gt1.. de corvettes zijn te snel => allemaal middelen om hem trager te maken.. => A M is weer te sterk..
dat ze gewoon met straf gewichten rijden.. dan zal in de loop van de tijd wel de wagen trager worden..
