Frentzen zu Arrows – Verstappen zu Minardi (04.12.01) Es bahnt sich eine Sensation auf dem Transfermarkt an : In einem Exklusiv- Interview mit den Kollegen von „sports.com“ hat Minardi Teamchef Paul Stoddart mitgeteilt, dass Heinz- Harald Frentzen seinen bisherigen Arbeitgeber Prost verlassen wird und zu Arrows wechseln wird. Dort wird er den Platz von Jos Verstappen einnehmen, der trotz Vertrag – genau wie seine Vorgänger de la Rosa und Salo – bei Arrows vor die Tür gesetzt wird, aber bei Minardi ganz hoch im Kurs ist. Geht es nach Stoddart, so würde er den Niederländer liebend gerne unter Vertrag nehmen. „Heinz- Harald befand sich ganz oben auf unserer Transferliste, aber wie ich gehört habe, hat er sich für ein anderes Team entschieden“, wird Stoddart auf „sports.com“ zitiert. „Wenn ich den Berichten Glauben schenken darf, wird Jos Verstappen wohl kein Cockpit mehr haben.“ Diese Kehrtwende im Transferkarussell erscheint mehr als überraschend, zumal Frentzen immer wieder betonte, dass er zwar die Arrows Fabrik besucht habe, aber 2002 für Prost fahren möchte. Darüber hinaus besitzt Jos Verstappen einen gültigen Vertrag für die kommende Saison bei Arrows, doch dieser scheint wohl nicht mehr als ein Blatt Papier zu sein. Auf Stoddarts kleinem Notizbuch steht Verstappen nun ganz oben. „Er ist uns sehr bekannt und im Team ziemlich beliebt.“ Weiter teilte Stoddart mit, dass noch zwei andere Fahrer Chancen auf das Cockpit haben, allerdings werden diese wohl nur eine Chance bekommen, wenn sich Verstappen anderweitig entscheiden sollte. „Auf unserer Liste befinden sich auch Mark Webber und Tomas Enge. Wenn man einmal nachdenkt, so befinden sich im Gegensatz zum letzten Jahr einige hochkarätige Fahrer auf dem Markt.“ Es ist zur erwarten, dass Minardi die Fahrerpaarung für die Saison 2002 bis Ende Dezember bekannt gibt.

Frentzen een overschat talent??? Ik dacht het niet
Met het materiaal dat hem ter beschikking werd gesteld heeft hij mooie dingen verricht, laat ons wel wezen. Alleen, de weg naar de echte top lag niet voor hem open en ik zie hem nu wel stilletjes enkele banken naar achteren opschuiven. Dat betekent onherroepelijk ook: geen kussen van de juffrouw meer ! Jan

Die periode bij Williams heeft Frentzens imago gewoon geen goed gedaan, omdat Villeneuve toen met alle verdiensten ging lopen. Jordan '99 was dan weer een superseizoen. En dan kwam dat gedoe met Eddie Jordan. En volgens mij haalde hij echt het maximale uit de Prost.
Overschat ? no way.
