LNT Automotive has joined forces with IndyCar team Conquest Racing to run a Ginetta-Zytek LMP1 in the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

The car will be driven by Danny Watts and a second driver still to be announced.

While this will be Conquest's first venture into the American Le Mans Series, the team is hoping to learn as much as they can about it with hopes of eventually having a bigger presence in the series in the near future.

"We're very pleased to support and help the LNT Zytek Group for the Petit Le Mans race," said Conquest team owner Eric Bachelart.

"We are definitely looking to get involved in the American Le Mans Series in 2009 on top of our IndyCar Series program and this is a great opportunity to learn about the series from the inside."

Embassy Racing Shuts down
Zeer spijtig nieuws te vermelden uit Engeland: Embassy Racing heeft door de kwakke economische toestand besloten niet meer te investeren in de autosport! dus byebye aan de 2 Embassy's WF01.

Dus na Van Merksteijn en Team Essex zijn we nu een derde team uit de LMP2 kwijt, zeer jammer want het LMS kampioenschap is(was) aan het openbloeien!

En het ziet er naar uit dat Rollcentre ook stopt met LMS. De hoofdsponsor is ook een bank (Deutsche Bank).

De Peugeot 908 lijkt behekst in 2008. Tijdens de testdagen voor Petit Lemans heeft Lamy een zware crash gehad met dit tot gevolg:

En ik vind dit een zwak argument.

LMP1 zal altijd aantrekkelijker zijn voor sponsors omdat LMP1 op zich meer aandacht krijgt dan de andere klasses. Neem daarbij dat de RS Spyder de te kloppen auto is in LMP2 en die kost evenveel of zelfs meer dan de Pescarolo LMP1.

Christijan Albers in Audi R10 tijdens laatste ALMS wedstrijd (Laguna Seca): http://www.autosport.nl/actueel/news.php?id=8838 Audi is volop op zoek naar jeugdige vervangers voor Biela en Pirro. Fassler heeft eerder dit jaar al 2 ALMS wedstrijden gereden.

Benieuwd wat hij er van bakt.

De voorlopige kalender voor de LMS 2009. Ook hier slaat de nachtracehype toe . Weet iemand trouwens meer over dat nieuwe circuit?

Er zal mogelijk nog een zesde manche bijkomen.

Volgens autosport zou 1 van de races geen 1000km zijn maar bestaan uit twee races van 500km. op Zaterdag en 1 op zondag.

Niet geheel correct.

Voorlopig 5 races op de kalender. Men kijkt nog naar de mogelijkheid om een 6e race te gaan rijden en naar de mogelijkheid om 1 weekend 2x 500km te rijden ipv 1x 1000km.

Aim Power laat volgend jaar Creation Autosportif links liggen en wordt de exclusieve krachtbron voor de Courage-Oreca's. De Aim V10 is gebaseerd op de bekende Judd V10 (alleen andere motorhoek). Wat dit inhoudt voor Creation? Terug Judd motoren of ...?

Ander Oreca nieuws: De nieuwe Formula Le Mans prototype zal gebaseerd zijn op de Courage LC75 en zal gebruik maken van een Amerikaanse V8 krachtbron.
Er zullen in totaal 20 FLM09's geproduceerd worden, 2 daarvan zullen ingezet worden door het Britse Brookspeed Team Trimite team.

het zou maar erg zijn moesten de insiders van Creation iets zeggen à la "it's very boring, but we're gonna do it anyway"
