Since I wrote that piece on the forum I have contacted Lister cars and spoken to the "Big man" Lawrence himself.
Although he is unable yet to release details of the "GT 1" project he did tell me the following:

1) He wants to get back to "GT 1" because he see,s little chance of being truely competitive in the "LMP" class.
"LMP,S" are going to be dominated by the manufacturer teams for some time to come.

2)He will be able to release details of the "GT 1" car around september time.(He is still sorting finance and sponsorship issues on the new project.)

3)Although he doesn't want to continue with the "hybrid LMP" he has "people" seriously interested in racing the car again next season.

So heres a thought for you all out there:-
In 2007, you might just see lister racing not ownly the new "GT 1" cars in the FIA GT series + maybe LMS, but also the hybrid LMP as well. That really would be a "busy year"!!!!

Quote:
As you’ve undoubtedly read, Lister will abandon the LMP1 ranks and field a GT1 in 2007. Look for the orphaned LMP1 to surface in the ALMS. But who? Autocon? There’s going to be a partner for the GT1. You could throw in an Audi turbo V8, but even if that happens, Murphy doesn’t think the motor makes Audi the partner. That will be a chassis manufacturer, perhaps one that doesn’t build its own engines, anyway. Look for the homologation of a “Lister-something.” Although – as Connor reminded Murphy – there was a rumor that paired Panoz with an Audi power plant in GT1 a while back, that doesn’t square with Don’s “slip” at Le Mans about plans around a new Panoz Abruzi. And as important as Panoz is in sports car racing, the wider world wouldn’t call them “a major manufacturer.”
