Volgens de specialisten op een ander forum hebben de werkzaamheden aan het infield geen effect gehad op het infield-circuit. Tijden mag je dus vergelijken. Het was gisteren pas de eerste dag..........dus met nog twee dagen te gaan zullen die tijden nog wel wat zakken.

Idd, het enige wat je in de kranten leest over de Daytona is het ongeval van die ouwe krasse knar

Een andere legende die eraan denkt om een comeback te maken is Emerson Fittipaldi. Nadat hij dit weekend enkele rondjes gereden heeft in de wagen van zijn neefje Christian zit Emmo aan een comeback te denken.

Nog meer krasse knarren op komst

Derek Bell en Jochen Mass gaan van start in de 24 uur met een DP van Multimatic-Ford voor Gunnar Racing. Het zoontje van de teambaas is waarschijnlijk de derde piloot. According to autosport 13-01-05

Het kan niet op.


Zouden deze wagens ook zo'n succes kunnen hebben in Europa? Misschien, maar 1 van de positieve dingen is dat de teams in GrandAm (bijna) allemaal hoofdsponsors hebben, dus ze kunnen "echte" coureurs aantrekken ipv betalende coureurs. In Europa zie ik nog niet 1,2,3 dat grote bedrijven zullen gaan sponsoren (zie als voorbeeld FIA GT, LMES en ETCC). Dus het feit dat Amerikaanse bedrijven willen sponsoren is mede bepalend voor het succes van de DP's.

De teller staat op 62 wagens voor de 24 uur, 29 DP's en 33 GT's

Er staan zelfs drie Corvettes op maar dat zijn geloof ik geen C5-R's. Eens spitten welke spec die nu precies hebben.

Vincent Vosse goes Daytona 2005 .

In een Red Bull Ebimotors Team Porsche 996 GT3 Cup zal hij van start gaan in de eerste 24 uurs race van dit jaar. Als vervanger voor Luca Riccitelli. De andere collega's zijn: Dieter Quester, Johnny Mowlem en Karl Wendlinger.

Enneuh voor 2006 is de eerste all-star ook al bekend. Rusty Wallace komt dan meerijden.

Vorige week had ik nog een gesprek met Emiglia Riccitelli. Het knappe nichtje van Lucca, dat hier enkele straten verder woont, vertelde dat Lucca eind december 2004 bij een val tijdens een skivakantie een armbreuk had opgelopen. Dat is ook de reden waarom hij niet heeft deelgenomen aan de testdays. Hij had echter gehoopt voldoende hersteld te zijn voor de race zelf, maar dit is dus niet het geval.

Spijtig, want hij weet altijd het uiterste uit de Red Bull Porsche te halen en met zijn ervaring en de betrouwbaarheid van de Porsches zouden ze hoog kunnen komen.

En dan ook nog weer eens overal uit proportie geblazen en aangevuld met onzin. Hij was gewoon z'n rondjes aan het maken waarbij door een technisch mankement de motor vlam vatte. Als je de kranten mag geloven echter is hij met Mach 5 uit de Speedway gevlogen, in een baan rond de aarde geraakt en daarna weer in de Speedway geland....

We zijn vertrokken, de eerste sessie zit erop..........en de tweede is zojuist op gang geschoten. Tijdens die eerste sessie was de DP van Lammers goed voor een 5de tijd, de DP van Goossens was de langzaamste van het stel. Zegt helemaal niks.........waarschijnlijk een kleine "technical glitch" of een van de rijders wat KM's in de benen laten krijgen.
