Dat is jammer, maar hij heeft zich blijkbaar toch twee keer mooi een weg door het veld gezocht. Met deze debuutrace mogen we wel tevreden zijn denk!

Sound quality was not perfect, but Marc radioed something like "Lost a wheel coming up the Esses"

Also the commentators understood it like that and Co-Commentator Klaus Graf said you don't spin at the Esses for no reason.
Klaus practiced at the Glen in '04 but could not qualify because it was rained out.

Also the contact with Boris Said is not really a rookie mistake. Those cars have a very old type of rear-axle, so they tend to start hopping under braking.
It's crucial to cure this with the setup and even if you do well in setup the car hopping can come back with worn tires or when you adjust the brakebalance later in the stint to avoid hopping.
There were several guys fighting with wheel hopping.

Marc fastest average speed was a high 118, I think 118.8mph

A good debut with no payout

Thx for the info Tommy

Volgens een berichtje op pitstoptv.be was de ophanging van Marc zijn Ford gebroken en daardoor dus van de baan geraakt. Maar toen zat hij wel al in de 17e positie, dat is toch wel behoorlijk gereden lijkt mij!

To put Marc's performance in an even better light.
You're not allowed to test on the Nextel-Cup tracks anymore before the races.

Klaus Graf spend two days of testing on each Cup-Track before the races in 2004, Marc was not allowed to test at the Glen.

This explains his improvement from qualifying to happy hour - happy hour is what we know as warm-up, but the Cup guys have 4 hours time to prepare their car for the race

He has raced there for the grand-am a few months ago

I think it's not so much the track alone, but also adapting to the car. And during the first free practices and qualifying they had some set-up and brake problems.

Too bad the suspension broke...hopefully he'll get another opportunity to drive Nextel. But I guess he will since he's really proven himself over the past few days.

(Dit wordt nog eens een Engelstalig forum )

Sure Goosens raced GrandMa at the Glen, but NASCAR is soo special that you can't just hop in the car and perform well like in normal Sportscar Racing where it doesn't matter if you drive a Corvette or a Ferrari or an Aston.

That cars roll so much, they dive in under braking, you have a very uncommon seat-position very close to the steering-wheel.

So you need experience with a Cup car on the track
