World Touring Car Championship 2010 - Toekomst onzeker?
De toekomst van het WTCC staat onder grote druk. BMW beslist op 5 december over hun plannen voor 2010. Verwacht wordt dat ze van 5 naar 2 wagens (RBM: Priaulx + Farfus) gaan of zelfs helemaal stoppen. Zanardi heeft in ieder geval al aangekondigd in 2010 niet actief te zijn in het WTCC. Schnitzer gaat waarschijnlijk een Europees programma afwerken met de GT2 en ROAL stapt over naar het Italiaanse Superstars kampioenschap.

SEAT zal haar programma waarschijnlijk ook verminderen tot 2 a 3 wagens. Oreca keert in ieder geval niet terug. Ik zie Sunred nog wel een opwaardering krijgen naar semi-fabrieksteam.

Goede nieuws is dat Chevrolet haar deelname reeds bevestigd heeft. Enige wijziging bij de "Amerikanen" is dat Larini vervangen wordt door Yvan Muller.

Lada zit financieel in zware problemen. Het is twijfelachtig of het Russian Bears team komend seizoen fabrieksondersteuning krijgt.

Over de privateers is nog niet veel te zeggen. Engstler zal opnieuw deelnemen met een aantal wagens en Pro Motorsport stapt waarschijnlijk over naar het Italiaanse Superstars kampioenschap.


Met in 2011 nieuwe technische regels op komst zal 2010 in ieder geval een tussenjaar worden. Ik denk dat het WTCC blij mag zijn als er 20 wagens op de grid zullen staan.

Persoonlijk hoop ik dat we in 2011 1 Europees tourwagenkampioenschap zullen hebben. Of dat DTM of WTCC zal zijn maakt me in principe niet zoveel uit als het racen maar goed is, grote grid hebben en de auto's er goed uit zien.

Dat gaat dan een mager beestje worden. In de Autosport van deze week lezen we dat privateer Chevy's in aantocht zijn.

Ergens al een "car-count" te vinden op net?

Ook Giovanardi werd al gelinkt aan chevrolet.

Als we van elke merk enkele fabrieks wagens, en voor de rest privateers, hebben kunnen we toch niet klagen.

No Chevrolet deal for Giovanardi

Chevrolet heeft plannen om 5 wagens in te zetten opgeborgen omdat BMW en Seat hun programma toch zwaar inkrimpen.

Ik stel voor om dit topic voor het WTCC te gebruiken en de discussie over toerwagens in dit topic verder te zetten. Misschien kunnen de moderrators bovenstaande posts verplaatsen?

Wie de Telegraaf van vandaag heeft gelezen komt tot de conclusie dat de toekomst van Lada wel zeer onzeker is geworden. Gezien die economische toestand kan ik me bijna niet voorstellen dat ze verdergaan met het WTCC, tenzij de centen uit de prive-sfeer komen.

Mooi nieuws voor RBM, te hopen kunnen ze weer voor de titel gaan volgend jaar.
(En te hopen sloopt farfus niet te vaak zijn bmw volgend jaar )

Seat is al jaren een zorgenkind binnen de Volkswagen groep. Dit is wel een radicale besparing.

Ik vermoed dat dit betekent dat Sunred een grotere rol krijgt.

Dan komen de diesels in handen van privateers, o.a. via Sunred. Dat kan dan alsnog leuk worden voor o.a. Coronel.

Een kampioenschap zonder fabrieksteams kan wel eens spannender worden dan 1 met.

Inderdaad (zie BTCC), echter ik betwijfel of dat bij een WK op lange termijn werkt vanwege de hogere kosten.
