FIA issue 19-race draft calendar

The British Grand Prix is one of 19 races listed on the provisional calendar for the 2005 Formula One season, as released by the sport’s governing body, the FIA, on Wednesday.

All of the 2004 rounds are retained, with Turkey joining the schedule for its inaugural Grand Prix in August.

The contracts for the British and French races remain under discussion, while San Marino is included subject to compliance with contract.

Exact dates have not been released for the Grands Prix of Europe, USA and China. These will be confirmed no later than the meeting of the World Motor Sport Council on December 10, 2004.

bvb de eerste europese GP wordt voor het eerst sinds lang niet san marino, Italie en België wisselen van plaats tov wat we gewoon zijn, Brazilië en Japan wisselen ook...
wat mij ook opvalt: China To Be Confirmed? Ik dacht dat Bernie Azie de toekomst vond?

da wilt alleen zeggen da den datum nog moet worden vastgelegd, de gp komt er zeker

Ook in 2005 zullen in Groot-Brittannië en Frankrijk Formule 1-races op de kalender staan. Negen van de tien teams hebben daarover dinsdag een akkoord bereikt op het vliegveld Heathrow.

De twee omlopen stonden op de helling, maar de renstallen willen ze behouden. Dat wil zeggen dat het WK in 2005 uit 19 wedstrijden zal bestaan.

Ook kwamen de ploegen overeen om het aantal testritten met de helft terug te brengen. Het geld dat doordoor vrijkomt wordt gebruikt voor Groot-Brittannië en Frankrijk. Alleen Ferrari was er niet bij om deze plannen goed te keuren.

With just two days to go before the 'official' Formula One calendar is released by the FIA and the World Motor Sport Council, rumours are surfacing about a possible reshuffle of dates.

According to grandprix.com, all 19 proposed races - including both France and Britain - are likely to go ahead, but some events may find themselves occupying different slots to those they were originally given in October. Additionally, there may be more back-to back - or even back-to-back-to-back - races than in previous years, as the powers that be try to cram the biggest schedule ever into the same timeframe as recent seasons.
