WTCC 2006: met yokohama's

Following an invitation to tender the FIA has appointed the Yokohama Rubber Company to supply the control tyre for the 2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship. The Japanese manufacturer replaces Michelin who have supplied the FIA Touring Car Championship since 2001.

Yokohama will also supply the control tyre for the first FIA European Touring Car Cup event to be held on October 26, 2005.

Interessante ontwikkeling : hebben die al kampioenschappen waar ze Yokohama's gebruiken ? Ik meen me te herinneren dat Yokohama begin jaren'90 de fabrieks BMW's (Schnitzer en Bigazzi) bevooraadde tot ze door Michelin verdrongen werden... .

in het fia GT enzo waren er al wel paar teams die op yokohama reden.

Yokohama bevoorraadde in '95 Honda ook van banden in STW,BTCC en Belgian Procar. Het jaar nadien stapten ze over naar Michelin omdat dat toch de referentie was. Nu rijdt iedereen op dezelfde banden dus geen probleem.
